Warrior Aviation Takes To The Skies

Over Manassas

 

 

Last month the Warrior Flight Team headlined the annual air show at Manassas Regional Airport. The team took to the sky with the “Vandy 1” L-39, the flagship of Warrior Aviation, and the P-51 of Andrew McKenna. The team thrilled the crowds with their aerial abilities and brought attention to their mission of making this generation of veterans the most cared for and well-adjusted in our nation’s history.

 

The skies were clear and the air was filled with the sound of aircraft throughout the day. Various performers from across the country took to the sky to demonstrate their talents and their unique aircraft. The Warrior Flight Team was no exception. Lieutenant Commander Mark “Crunchy’ Burgess, USN (ret), flew the team’s lead aircraft, the famed L-39 Albatross. This incomparable aircraft, painted in the livery of the former US Navy test squadron VX-9 “Vandy 1”, has become a common site at air shows across the nation. Andrew McKenna also amazed the audience in his beautifully restored P-51 Mustang. His performance brought a bygone era of aviation to life for the crowd of thousands. 

 

Warrior Aviation embraced the opportunity to further its efforts to assist out nation’s wounded warriors and their families. Through events such as the air show at Manassas Regional Airport, and future venues throughout the season, the team will continue its efforts to show American’s wounded warriors that their dreams of a fulfilling and purposeful post-military life, are attainable.
