Warrior Flight Team Amazes the Crowds at NAS Oceana

Posted By Staff Writer

In what has become a team tradition, the Warrior Flight Team once again performed at the NAS Oceana Air Show. With last year's show cancelled due to budget cutbacks, the Oceana community went all out to put on one of the greatest shows yet. The team's "Vandy 1" L-39, flown by Mark "Crunchy" Burgess performed on Saturday and Sunday, allowing the public to see the team in action and to learn about the mission of Warrior Aviation.

Spectators came out in record numbers to see military and civilian aviators take to the sky throughout the two day show. To many, NAS Oceana has come to be known as one of the country's greatest air shows each year.

"We definitely look forward to Oceana every year," said Pat Marsh, President of Warrior Aviation. "Given the significance of the base throughout the history of Naval Aviation, it is the perfect setting for the Warrior Flight Team."

The team has a long-standing relationship with the base and looks to return in future years. Given the importance of Warrior Aviation's mission, the flight team welcomes the opportunity to interract with the public and advance its efforts to help those wounded warriors who sacrificied so much for our nation.

"I think given the chance," Pat Marsh continued "we'd have an air show at Oceana every week. It's just that great of an event."
